As much as I am into fashion I am also really into
beauty. If I wouldn't have had the opportunity to go to a fashion school and
become a Designer I would have probably done something in the beauty industry.
I am definately not a professional and not a makeup artist, but I am always
willing to learn new methods, improve myself and pass on my learned skills to you. So I have decided to add
a beauty categorie to my blog where I can inform you about the newest trends,
give you advises and reviews.
My first beauty post is dedicated to contouring. You can find a lot of posts
and YouTube videos about contouring, from which I have also learned a lot, but
it has always been very difficult for me to find the right products for my fair
skin. I know I doesn’t look that pale on the pictures but these have been made
next to artificial light and also with flash. Plus, Blogger is making all my
pictures darker and a bit more yellow while uploading. For your reference, the
colour NC10 from MAC is slightly too dark for my skin tone. A few weeks ago I have finally found the right products
for me which I would love to share with you.
Of course I also know that it is not easy to find contouring products for very
dark skin tones. Since I don't have any experience in contouring dark skin I
feel I wouldn't be the right advisor. But I have found a post on the website beautylish.com including details on the used products. Why don't you have a
look at it here.
Produkte. Warum schaut ihr euch diesen nicht hier
mal an.
So this is my starting basis. On the pictures above you can see the difference
between my non contoured and contoured face. Whether you prefer a contoured look
or a more natural look is up to you, but I think that you can definately see on
the right picture that a contoured face looks more defined and more vivid. Contouring is always the last step of my makeup routine. If you like to do your
eyebrows and eye make up before or after the contouring really doesn't matter
but what you need to do is to apply foundation, concealer and setting powder
first. You can find the details to the products I have used at the end of the
post.
Dies ist mein
Ausgangslook.
mir immer an letzter Stelle.
aufgelistet.
Now we want to start with the contouring. There are a
lot of people who contour with bronzers but I can highly recomment to choose a
colour which is less shiny and less red pigmented. If you want a shiny or
glossy finish or if you want to add a sun kissed look rather apply the bronzer
after the contouring on the top of your cheekbones, forehead, chin and nose.
For contouring we want to create fake shadows to our face and shadows are
neither shiny nor red pigmented. So what we need is a colour which is matte and
grey pigmented such as a taupe colour. You could also use an eyeshadow if you
have a light taupe, matte colour at hand. I
have found a pressed powder which fits my fair skin perfectly without being too
dark and the one I am using is the "Fit me Pressed Powder" by Maybelline New York in colour 220. Apply the contouring colour directly below your cheekbones in a range between
your ear to the vertical line to where your eye begins. Apply it also on the
sides of your forehead from the temples to the beginning of your cheekbones.
Then add some contouring at the sides and tip of your nose and at last and much
important, along your jawline. I suggest to use a brush which is not too big with stiff hair so that you are
able to apply the colour precisely and at the end blend in the edges with a
bigger and softer brush.
Jetzt wollen
Also brauchen wir
We want to set the highlighting powder on all parts we
want to emphasize. Also here please don't use a shiny highlighter. You can set
shiny highlights afterwards. What we need here is a matte and very light
neutral colour. I think this is the most difficult part especially when all
powders seem to be darker than your skin. I can highly recommend to simply use
a white powder. I know this may sound ridiculous but it really does work and
looks very good. Just choose a matte white eyeshadow colour for your
highlighting, it will lighten your skin tone without looking fake. I am using
the "Color Up! Eyeshadow" from P2 in colour "010 free spirit". Apply the highlighting colour at the mid of your forehead, along your nose
bridge and on your chin. Also apply the white powder on top of your cheekbones
including the area beneath your eyes which will lighten up your eyes a bit. Now
blend the highlighting colour just as you did the contouring colour so that
no seams are visible.
Augen, was dunkle Augenpartien zusätzlich aufhellen wird.
The last step is to add a bit of blush to receive a naturally
fresh look. There are a lot of theories which kind of colour fair skinned
people should use. It is said that you should use very light rose coloured
blush or blushes with a warm undertone. But I really like fresh, cool
pigmented, pinkish colours. So just go for it, use whatever blush you like and
you think fits your type. I am using the "Defining Blush" from Catrice, colour "070 Pinkerbell". Just apply it on your
cheekbones. I like to set it slightly below the
highest point so that I can emphasize the highest point of my cheekbones with
an additional highlighter.
Hauttyp verwenden sollte.
Here I have added a side view so that you can see the applied colours together from the side.
Et Voilà, this is the final look. I have gone for a matte
finish this time but if you like to add a glow, just
apply some highlighter on top of your cheekbone (above the blush), at the inner
corner of your eyes and below your eyebrows. Have fun experimenting for
yourself. Also you can always contact me if you have any questions. The next
beauty post will be all about covering dark under eye circles.
Augenringen drehen.
